The Nakano 401K plan

Why yes, there is a store in Nakano whose exterior-facing showcase consists of not one but two floor-to-ceiling window displays of M.U.S.C.L.E. Things (aka Kinnikuman).

And yes, they command prices ranging from $16 to $400. You’d better believe that when I travel back in time to 1983, I’m just gonna drop a hundred bucks on a bunch of these and put them in a vault for three decades to pay for my retirement.

  1. Oh man, I bought M.U.S.C.L.E. toys from vending machines all the time when I was a kid, as well as the the rubber mecha-building kits.

I wish I still had them.

  2. Hey, did they have any of Takara’s Fatal Fury 2 figurines? They looked like MUSCLE figures, with the same soft orange plastic and everything!

  3. Pretty sure I still have some of those in a box in a closet somewhere. Do I need to find a Japanese friend to put them on yahoo.jp auctions or something?
