Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and Zack and Miri Make a Porno highlight the first-run theatrical features hitting Blu-ray this week. For some reason, I keep calling the latter film Zack and Wiki Make a Porno, which would be a completely different movie. I’m sure that such a movie already exists in the “magical” land of DeviantArt. For me, the real highlights for Blu-ray this week are the catalog titles. Little Miss Sunshine and Sideways are amazing indie comedies that deserve a spot in your crowded entertainment schedule. The rest of the movies hitting Blu-ray this week are after the jump.
Also Out This Week

In America? Near a theater? GO SEE TAKEN. Here is a movie for fans of Jason Bourne; for fans of gritty action; for fans of vigilante justice; for fans of revenge dramas. Liam Neeson turns in a spectacular performance as the ex-spook determined to tear Paris to the ground in order to find the daughter kidnapped by those who would sell her into sexual slavery. I enjoyed it quite a bit, enough to stray from this columns raison d’etre in order to recommend it.
Editor’s Note: I can’t believe Office Space didn’t even rate a mention! Crivvens!
Thanks for reading Add to Queue, GameSpite’s weekly round-up of US Blu-ray release highlights. Sorry, rest of the world; region locks are the industry’s way of saying they still don’t understand the Internet. Imagine books and music and movies being filtered and homogenized. Certified. Approved for consumption. People will be happy to give up most of their culture for the assurance that the tiny bit that comes through is safe and clean. White noise. Cover art courtesy of Amazon. Somebody’s got a case of the Mondays!
Also, Oliver & Company got re-released at some point in the last week or two. It’s one of those Disney films that I do not mind watching now, which is a bit of a rarity.
re: Office Space, as you can tell by its haphazard placement at the end of the image, when all the other images are in alphabetical order, was almost left out entirely. O.o I am a fan, and, like many others, find myself quoting from this movie more than almost any film.
Space Buddies – What the fuck? The only astronaut dog I’ll ever acknowledge is Laika.
Seconded on the Taken recommendation, or as it was originally called in France “Liam Neeson Punches Paris in the Face”. I had wanted to see District 13 (from the same writer & director) but always end up pushing it off. Now I think it may leapfrog to the top of my list.
Taken = good action, bad dye-job (I want to dip my sushi into that shit), and retarded running. But, as far as “it’s a must see” – nah, it’s really not.
I’m sure “Zack and Wiki Make A Porno” would make excellent use of the wii-mote.
