New Game Plus: Designated downloads for 11/04/08

With the holiday release schedule ramping up, the DLC release schedule is ramping, uh, down, I guess. Slim pickings this week. Hit the link to find out just how slim!

Hudson Soft | Wii | Squishy pinball
If you want to play 3-D pinball in the guts of an alien monster (as opposed to the 2-D pinball offered by the TG-16 original), then now you can. Or, since the original Alien Crush is on VC, you can be really adventurous and do both!

Big Blue Bubble | Wii | Domesticity: The Game
This game is not aimed at the hardcore demographic. It’s aimed at people who want to renovate homes — which could be good, cheap career training with the housing market in the toilet. For just a few dollars you can get practical training in home décor, which will leave you perfectly positioned for your new career once Obama fishes the economy out of the crapper. And if Obama doesn’t win, well …

Sega | Master System via Wii | Harrying space
Why in the cosmos would you buy the SMS version of Space Harrier when the Genesis version of Space Harrier II is also available on the VC? I have no idea. I’m guessing you wouldn’t! But Sega hopes you might, like it hoped you’d buy the crappy SMS version of Virtua Fighter. Don’t encourage this sort of behavior, please.

Isopod Labs | Xbox 360 | Car-ar-ar combat-at-at
If this console generation just doesn’t have enough Twisted Metal for your satisfaction, well, tough. But if you’re willing to accept Vigilante 8 on the Xbox 360 as a substitute, well, here it is! Gentlemen, start your engines — of destruction.

  1. Man, I played so much SMS Space Harrier when I was younger. But I only beat it once. I should dig out my Master System and give it another go.

    Get Ready!

  2. Well, I suppose SMS Space Harrier is good for the nostalgia.

That said, there’s now no excuse whatsoever to not release the Famicom/NES version of Gradius II.

  3. SMS Space Harrier is by far the best version of Space Harrier that was available up until it landed on Saturn years later. Space Harrier II is, to put it simply, an abomination.

  4. “Space Harrier II is, to put it simply, an abomination.”

That game was terrible. They should have ported SH to the Genesis and been done with it. The PCE version is a fair bit better than the SMS port, but it was never released outside of Japan.

Also, what SMS version of Virtua Fighter?
