Games | Weekly Game Releases | Week of Sept. 18, 2007: Welcome to our overhaul! We're getting to that magical time of year where so many games are coming out that no one person can hope to play them all. And in that spirit, we're going to stop giving detailed blurbs on them all. Instead, we'll feature a few, and then hit the rest with a line or so. Onward!

Game of the week | Eternal Sonata

Taking place in the hours before composer Frédéric Chopin's death of tuberculosis, Eternal Sonata posits that the man spent his last moments in a delirious dream state in which he travels a world where people with terminal diseases have great powers. Which is, uh, weird, but GOOD weird, we think. And hey, it's an RPG for the Xbox 360! If Blue Dragon's thrashy boss fight music isn't your thing, how 'bout something more romantic?

Also appearing in stores

SingStar Amped / SingStar 80's
As long as you plan on getting Rock Band in November, you'd better pick up these games. At least Amped. If you don't, you'll surely be ridiculed when you log onto to Xbox Live or the PSN the first time you get Rock Band and start failing songs because you suck at singing. Forget what your loved ones tell you, you aren't any good and you need the practice.

Sonic Rush Adventure
The follow-up to last year's surprisingly good Sonic Rush. Looking to add a little bit of story, but other than that stay the same from last years, this game is sure to please the Sonic Rush fans out there. Forget consoles, because Sonic is actually GOOD on handhelds. As a plus to this version, no bestiality!

My Sims
Your Miis become your Sims in MySims. The goal is to fix up a house in a small town full of bobbleheaded people. Which sounds kind of like Animal Crossing, in a way. The DS version is different, involving a resort town the player spruces up.

Growlanser: Heritage of War
The sequel to the game collection that killed Working Designs (no, not Goemon), this game is a combination of action RPG and strategy RPG. Fight the evil empire while building a large force for yourself; and find some fairies while you're at it. The special edition release is supposedly a one-print run, so if you're interested, you might want to pick it up pretty quick, or else you might be paying a lot more on eBay.

All the rest

Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights - DS, PS2, XB360 -- Racin' on the streets with your homies in your fly rides.

Super Collapse 3 - DS -- This puzzler sounds sort of like upside-down Bejeweled, with players trying to clear lines of three or more colored blocks as more push up from the screen's bottom. Includes a new quest mode.

Namco Museum DS -- Galaga, Xevious, Dig Dug II, Galaxian, Mappy, Tower of Druaga, Pac-Man and Pac-Man Vs. make up this collection.

Nancy Drew : Deadly Secret World Park - DS -- Jinkies gang! There's a mystery on our hands!

Backyard Basketball - DS -- Kid-friendly sports series makes it's first appearance on the DS.

Digimon World: Dusk/Dawn - DS -- Gotta catch 'em al-- I mean Digimon are the champions!

Fishing Master - Wii -- Pretend you're really fishing with the power of your imagination! And the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.

Syphon Filter : Dark Mirror - PS2 -- A few years late, this port of the pretty-darn-good PSP Gabe Logan vehicle brings back the bland cast of the third-tier spy series for another go.

Warriors Orochi - PS2, XB360 -- Dynasties meet Samurai meet a time and continuity changing snakegod.

Digimon World: Data Squad - PS2 -- Gotta catch 'em al-- Wait, I already said that...

Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions - PS3, XB360 -- More heavily fictionalized WWII fighter action.

Coded Arms Contagion - PSP -- Virtual FPS combat returns to the PSP after a long delay, this time with a storyline, infrastructure play and, hopefully, better gameplay.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force 2 - PSP -- Summon a Blue Eyes White Dragon on the go! Again!

Stuntman Ignition - PS3 -- Didn't this come out last week for the 360?

Cosmic Family - Wii -- An early learning program for little baby children.

Interactive Storybook DS Series 1 -- It's like a storybook, only on your DS. And it's interactive!

Smart Girls: Playhouse - DS -- Stereotyped game for girls.

Smart Boys: Gameroom - DS -- Stereotyped game for boys.

Dewy's Adventure - Wii -- From the makers of Elebits, control a dewdrop on his adventure. Cute!

Weekly WTF? | ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Nothing this week really inspires that "What the F?!" reaction we need for the Weekly WTF. So, there is none. Come on, gaming industry! Give us something weird.

And that wraps it up for this week's edition. Tune in next week for Halo 3, same Halo time, same Halo station. Because you know nothing else matters.

Waiting for Halo next week or are you getting Juiced 2 for your DS? Let us know!
