I’m annoyed that the image auto-cropping features of all the social media channels on which we’ve shared this week’s Retronauts have universally cut out the detail of this episode’s cover art that I consider most essential, so I’m reposting it here, because this is my blog and I’m allowed:

Even before the Hip Tanaka remixes and ROM hacks of Balloon Fight began showing up this week in tribute to Satoru Iwata, I always associated him with the game. I realized this week just how often I tend to drop references to the game and his work on it; in fact, while news of his passing broke during the taping of this week’s Retronauts, we had bantered a bit about the game in an episode recorded earlier in the session.  He was just one of those omnipresent figures, you know?
