Tonight in GameSpite Quarterly content posting: another reminder that I really ought to play some freakin’ Darkwing Duck someday. Yeah, it’s based on a Disney cartoon, but people keep comparing it to Mega Man. How can I turn that down, I ask you?

Chronology’s messed up. Duck Tales came out in fall ’89.
I second this. I don’t know if it should be included, since it is based on a movie, but Capcom made a fun shooter out of The Little Mermaid.
The scope of the article is only The Disney Afternoon – namely games based on those Disney cartoons during a specific time period. There are other Disney games on the NES for sure.
“…but people keep comparing it to Mega Man.”
That’s funny. According to pirate chronology, yes, Darkwing Duck is actually Megaman 5! Darkwing’s sprite was replaced with the blue bomber’s and the bootleg cart was sold as the fifth game in the Megaman series all over South America and other parts of the world. Of course, children that didn’t know any better wondered why Megaman showed his identity crisis at the beginning of each level: “I am Darkwing Duck!”.
It reveals the Blue Bomber’s little known love for amateur dramatics.
Is that photo of Mickey Mousecapade going to be in the book? That was made by Hudson and released to America by Capcom. And most people hate it.
All of those games are spiffy, with the exception (as noted) of Talespin. I wish I could bring myself to drop the cash on Duck Tales 2, though. It’s a bit pricey on Ebay. I had a friend that owned it, and then he sold all his NES stuff (for almost nothing, to boot!) without telling me. Blah.
For those that are interested, I recently found a nice mix of the moon music from Ducktales by Chris Holland, who’s done music for AVGN among other things.

Awesome link. Thanks.
Very nice. Don’t forget about these, though!
