GameSpite Quarterly 2, #28: Street Fighter II

28. Street Fighter II
Hey so I’m back from Japan. Guess I’ll start posting new material from the magazine! The second magazine, now on sale and all that. Today’s article is a personal look back on Street Fighter II. Now, if I’d written this piece it would talk about how trying to beat M. Bison on maximum difficulty is the single most frustrating thing in the universe and would be 800 curse words strung together. Alas!

  1. It looks like Capcom made indentations implying musculature in that guy’s shirt so they wouldn’t have to find anyone with an actual built-up back.

  2. In all honesty, I always thought just -getting- to Bison on the highest difficulty was extremely frustrating. But then again, much as I love this game, I pretty much suck at it. And I’m always using Vega.

  3. Playing Street Fighter 2 on max difficulty. I remember doing that. That game can cheat so hard.

I actually beat the SNES SF2T on the hardest difficulty, but I may have killed half my brain in the process with the difficulty causing all sorts of arteries in there to explode in pure anger and hatred.

  4. I remember my cousin introducing me to the game on the SNES, then getting a copy of my own for my birthday. At someone else’s birthday party, there was a Super Street Fighter II arcade cabinet in what I believe was the arcade section of a Nathan’s. I was under the impression that I could unlock Vega, Bison, Balrog and Sagat on my version of SFII at home. Silly, silly me.
