I think it’s less the subject matter, and more the fan-base. I’m convinced that even if everyone in FF13 were unattractive and wore full body armor, the peoples of the internets would find a way to sexualize them in ways that would disturb the average citizen.
I guess I haven’t been playing that much attention since they are ditching the MMO fighting system of FF12 (which was the best Final Fantasy in years).
